Reflections From DXP Intern, Cameron

We would like to take a moment to say thanks to our latest DXP intern! Cameron Tharp was an intern with us while studying at the University of Oklahoma during the Spring 2022 semester. She worked at the DXP OKC location and gained months of valuable supply chain experience.

“During my internship at DXP, I have gained a multitude of knowledge regarding the supply chain in the industrial distribution industry. It has been great to see the curriculum I learned in my Supply Chain classes at the University of Oklahoma implemented in real life.” Cameron shares her experiences as an intern.

“I am fortunate to have seen multiple different Smart Source locations, Georg Fischer, ATC Drivetrain, Shell HLP, Siemens Energy, and what DXP does for them onsite. Seeing the Secura Stock and Autocrib vending machines was a side of the supply chain services that I did not know existed. After seeing how it is implemented within these locations, I think it can contribute greatly to the future efficiency of the supply chain.” Cameron will be graduating from the University of Oklahoma in May and is very thankful to have been given the opportunity to learn from the DXPeople within this company.

“Seeing the inventory practices at the OKC Supercenter and the expediting and sourcing practices at Georg Fischer Central Plastics has been very informative. Although the majority of my internship has pertained to Supply Chain, DXP also has allowed me to experience other aspects of what they do, including riding with outside sales representatives and the HR department.” We aim to give our interns the full experience of what it’s like to work at DXP.

“Everyone whom I have interacted with at DXP has been welcoming, inclusive, and truly made me feel comfortable to learn and grow. I would especially like to thank David Willits for allowing me to learn from him at the OKC location and ensuring I have the resources needed to continue expanding my knowledge. Since I started interning for DXP in January, I have learned so much and am excited to see where my degree can take me.”

Thank you for all that you’ve done, Cameron! We will miss you very much and wish you well in your future endeavors.
